Dialogue 53


A : Where do you work?

أَيْنَ تَعْمَلُ؟

Ayna taʿmalu?


B : I work in Casablanca.

أَعْمَلُ في الدّارِ البَيْضاءِ

Aʿmalu fī ad-Dār al-Bayḍā'.


A : How do you get there?

كَيْفَ تَذْهَبُ إلى هُناكَ؟

Kayfa tadhhabu ilā hunāka?


B : I take the train.

آخُذُ القِطارَ

Ākhudhu al-qiṭār.


A : Don't you have a car?

أَلَيْسَ عِنْدَكَ سَيَّارَةٌ؟

Alaysa ʿindaka sayyārah?


B : My family has one. But I don't know how to drive.

عائِلَتِي لَدَيْها واحِدَةٌ. لكِنَّنِي لا أَعْرِفُ القِيادَةَ

ʿĀ'ilatī ladayhā wāḥidah. Lākinnanī lā aʿrifu al-qiyādah.


A : Why don't you know how to drive?

لِماذا لا تَعْرِفُ القِيادَةَ؟

Limādhā lā taʿrifu al-qiyādah?


B : I haven't gotten a driver's license yet.

لَمْ أَحْصَلْ بَعْدُ على رُخْصَةِ القِيادَةِ

Lam aḥṣal baʿdu ʿalā rukhṣati al-qiyādati.
