TO ACCEPT
Dialogue 60
A: Why did you marry Rachida?
Limādhā tazawwajta Rashīdata?
B: I married her because she accepted to live with me in Casablanca.
Tazawwajtuhā li-annahā qabilat an taʿīsha maʿī fī ad-Dār al-Bayḍā'.
A: But here you are in Mohammédia!
Lākin hā anta dhā fī Muḥammadiyyah!
B: Obviously! I am in Mohammédia because Rachida refused to stay with me in Casablanca.
Wāḍiḥ! Anā fī Muḥammadiyyah li-anna Rashīdata rafaḍat an tabqā maʿī fī ad-Dār al-Bayḍā'.
A: That is what I don't understand! Did she accept or refuse?
Hādhā mā lā afhamuhu! Hal qabilat am rafaḍat?
B: Rachida is my wife. I accept her as she is.
Rashīdatu zawjatī. Aqbaluhā kamā hiya.
A: That is why you refuse to talk about her!
Li-hādhā as-sababi tarfuḍu at-taḥdītha ʿanhā!
B: Yes, just as you refuse to talk about your wife!
Naʿam, mithlamā anta tarfuḍu at-taḥdītha ʿan zawjatika!
